GEOGRAPHICAL GAMES

I would like to recommend some games to measure your geographical knowledge. These games are on the Internet, I give only links to them. The first one is one of my favourite games, and you should have some general knowledge about the world and its regions to play with it. This game is The Traveller IQ Challange from TravelPod . This game starts with the global game, but you can choose a region from its menu, as well.

How can you play with it?
The game asks a question about the position of a place or well-known sight, and you have to click on the map to mark the appropriate place. But you have to decide very fast, because the black-green bar on the top of the screen show the rest time! Your place will be marked with a red flag and after that the computer will show the real position of the place with a green flag. The game will tell you the time of your decision and the deviation between the two flags in a pop-up window. The score of your answer will be calculated about these two data. There are twelve levels in the game and you can step further from a level, if you collected the score.

The second game is a puzzle about the countries of Europe. You can choose two possibilities from the main menu: “Countries with outlines” or “Countries without outlines”. The second one is the more difficult game, because the map doesn't shows the borders of Europe in this case. If you put a country onto the exact place, it will stay in that position, otherwise it will disappaer, and you will get another task.

The third one is a game about Hungary. It is similar to the Traveller IQ Challange, but here you can find Hungarian places on the map. It is a very difficult game, if you don't speak the Hungarian and don't know Hungary, but it is worth trying it! I tell you some explanation about the texts: You can see the question on the top-right corner of the page. For example “Hol van Kazincbarcika?” means “Where is Kazincbarcika?” (It is a town at the feet of Bükk Mountains). If you click onto the map, the answer of the computer will appaer under the question: “Telitalálat!”, it means “Direct hit!” (Yes, I know Hungary very well), in other case the computer tell you the deviation in kilometres. Below the deviation you can see the score of your answer and the row under it shows the average score of your all answers. The question “Új kérdés?” means “Another question?”. If you click with the left button of the mouse, you will get the next question.
